Fekete helps clients, engaged in coalbed methane (CBM), shale development and tight gas exploration, to optimize their production from new or existing
wells. In the past few years, Fekete has been involved in numerous projects such as industry funded initiatives to study shale gas, green field
development, and engineering reports to determine a CBM-specific development strategy. Other typical projects include the reserve estimation of tight
gas, production forecasting of CBM and shale gas reservoirs, reservoir evaluation, and production optimization of existing CBM wells.
Fekete uses its F.A.S.T. CBM ™ software to estimate reserves and generate production forecasts for new plays. F.A.S.T. CBM™ allows us to
analyze production and pressure data for producing CBM reservoirs. It is the ideal tool for determining expected ultimate recovery and gas-in-place.
Projects
Fekete’s completed project list includes the following project categories:
- Determination of viability of developing new CBM resources
- Optimal infill well spacing for development of existing fields
- De-watering period and gas production forecasts
- CBM reserve evaluation
Reserve evaluations are conducted using volumetric/analogy, material balance and production history modeling methods. Fekete uses both analytical (single well tank-type model) and numerical (multi-well gridded model) simulation to generate gas and water production forecasts for CBM wells. Regardless of whether the formation is saturated, undersaturated, or if the well has multiple layers, Fekete can generate accurate forecasts that are used for calculating project economics.
